We are looking for an experienced Lead QA Automation Engineer to design, build, and lead the test automation function for a modern JavaScript/TypeScript platform.


You will combine hands-on test automation with ownership of QA strategy, processes, and mentoring of other engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement the overall QA automation strategy and test architecture

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated E2E, API, and integration tests using JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g. Playwright, Cypress, WebdriverIO)

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and ensure reliable, fast feedback on product quality.

  • Establish QA processes, documentation, and best practices for scalable, maintainable test automation

  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level QA engineers; participate in hiring and technical interviews.

  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to plan testing, manage risks, and report on quality metrics, defects, and coverage.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in QA automation with strong hands-on skills and framework design

  • 5+ years working with JavaScript/TypeScript-based test automation tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or WebdriverIO

  • 3+ years of experience mentoring other engineers or leading small QA teams

  • Strong experience in E2E, API, and integration testing, including test data management.

  • Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions, GitLab CI) and working with Git-based workflows.

  • Good understanding of Agile/Scrum and the software development lifecycle.

Skills

  • Proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript; experience with Python or Java is a plus.

  • Deep knowledge of at least one modern test framework (Playwright, Cypress, or WebdriverIO).

  • Experience with REST API testing tools (e.g. Postman or code-based approaches) and SQL for data validation.

  • Familiarity with testing patterns such as BDD, Page Object Model, and similar approaches.

Personal attributes

  • Able to work independently, quickly understand complex systems, and deliver results with minimal supervision.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain testing approaches and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Enjoys mentoring others, improving processes, and building a strong quality culture within the team.

  • Looking for a stable, long-term role with broad ownership of QA automation.
