I loved my job at American Express as a customer service professional. They treat and pay you well. Unfortunately it transitioned into a sales job . It became sell,sell, sell and sell some more. We were compensated for very very well this however if I wanted a sales job, that's what I would have applied for. When it came to the point I had to make an offer on every other call I was done. If you enjoy sales this is the place for you, your bonuses will outpace you're already very good pay

I feel that the team leaders need to be as driven for each individual to succeed that they are for the team collectively to reach their numbers. If one person doesn’t meet the team lead who do anything in their power to have that person fired just so they won’t affect their numbers.

Overall, this is a good place to work. The benefits are great, particularly the travel benefits and the ability to purchase an extra week of vacation. The quarterly bonuses are not as difficult to earn as I’ve seen others note. The paid training program is long and really needs an overhaul. Too much time is spent reading PowerPoint presentations with the trainer and not enough time working with the software. Metrics are everything and determine your shift-bid rank and whether you receive a bonus, to name a few things. Team leaders range from dismal to amazing and it really is the luck of the draw what you will encounter.The nature of a 24/7 call center (even working remotely) makes finding a work/life balance difficult.

Personally the best job I ever had. If I could go back I would in a heartbeat I’m not sure if I would make as much as I did before though. They care about you as a person and they care about your personal growth in the company it’s been along time since I’ve been there so I don’t know what has changed but like I said it was the best job I ever had the best company I’ve ever worked for.

Amex is a great place to start your career particularly to build a network. While there are many bright and well meaning people, middle management is incapable and inept. They are insecure, often, and their core focus is job preservation. Some of the nastiest people I have met, ever, sit in the marketing organization.

TL need to be more supportive to team members So many changes occur with out always being made aware of in a timely fashion. Breaks and lunches at different times throughout the week and sometimes changes without notification.

Amex is a great place to work and build a career. The company has an inclusive culture and looks out for its employees in numerous ways. If you take the initiative there are plenty of opportunities to learn and advance. Excellent benefits overall, health insurance is on the expensive side, but paid 20 week parental leave is a standout benefit.

Expensive health insurance
It was a 6 weeks virtual internship due to covid-19. The credit card courses actually took 3 weeks to complete, and there was little time left to polish my summer project. Overall, I liked the working environment and the team atmosphere. You could definitely feel that it was a big family full of love. However, based on my observation, there wasn't that much stress for you to learn new things. As a result, I am concerned about my professional growth.
