Head of Product - Szallas Group

At Szallas Group, we develop booking platforms that help millions of users plan and book trips across Central and Eastern Europe. We connect travelers with hotels, apartments, guesthouses, and owners of tourist properties, giving them convenient access to a wide range of accommodation options — whether for a weekend getaway, holiday, business trip, or short city break.

Our story began in 2007 in Hungary with the launch of szallas.hu. Over time, it became a local leader in the accommodation booking market. Further organic growth, together with the acquisition of additional businesses, enabled us to expand our operations into new markets.

Today, we operate in Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Romania. For several years, we have been part of Wirtualna Polska Holding, one of the largest technology and media groups in Poland.

We are currently looking for a Head of Product who will take strategic ownership of the development of our products in the travel e-commerce area.

Task:

  • Creating short- and long-term product strategy in the e-commerce travel sector
  • Creating value propositions for the user and for partners (home hosts and hotel owners)
  • Ensuring the quality and consistency of the user experience across the entire platform interaction path
  • Cooperation with the Customer Care team to stimulate improvement in customer experience with the service
  • Accurately defining and analyzing business requirements for the product
  • Communicatively presenting the product vision and data, engaging people in initiatives (buy-in)
  • Cooperation with developers, UX/UI designers, growth specialists, content, marketing, etc., in the area of product modeling, creation, and development
  • Managing product development (scope, roadmap, goals)
  • Analyzing the competitive environment and product trends, and recommending directions for product changes and development
  • Monitoring user satisfaction and experience using qualitative and quantitative methods
  • Creating new initiatives and active participation in ongoing development projects in relevant areas
  • Ongoing analysis of traffic, costs, revenues, product development, and established KPIs
  • Management of a team of product managers/owners (individuals with combined project management and product owner competencies) - approx 10 people

Requirements:

  • Experience in the e-commerce sector (highly desired experience in the digital travel industry)
  • Experience working with a product operating in several markets simultaneously, which have their local specifics (international)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a standalone Product Manager position, including a minimum of 2 years in a Head of Product/Director of Product or equivalent role.
  • Proven success in developing large-scale digital products.
  • Proficient knowledge of agile methodologies (Scrum/Agile) and analytical tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Very good practical knowledge of English
  • Knowledge of performance KPIs and settlement models (CPS, CPC, CPL, COS, ROAS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) techniques.
  • Experience working directly with development teams
  • Experience working with UX/UI teams/specialists

Nice to have:

  • Experience in the markets of Hungary, Romania, and Czechia
  • Experience in the practical use of AI tools in product development (experience with AI agents is welcome)
